DESCRIPTION
The Sondex S86 plate is a direct replacement for S86 and S86/S87 frames, and one of the more material-flexible options in the Sondex range. Available in AISI 316L stainless steel, titanium and 254SMO — which covers more ground than most standard replacement plates.
Material selection is straightforward once you know the application. 316L handles standard industrial duties — water circuits, moderate chemical exposure, general process cooling. Titanium is the right call for seawater or aggressive acid streams. 254SMO sits between the two — outperforms 316L in chloride-heavy environments without the full cost of titanium, useful for chemical or offshore work where conditions are tough but not extreme.
